Our Rehab Success story this month is on Linda Bargo, who has been participating in Vital Stim Therapy with our Speech Therapist, Julie Schott.
Vital Stim Therapy is painless, non-invasive neuromuscular electrical stimulation. This therapy uses an electrical current to stimulate the muscles responsible for swallowing. It helps to increase swallow strength and airway protection to increase safety with swallowing thin liquids.
Maybe you know someone who has suffered a stroke and now requires thickened liquids. Vital Stim Therapy can often help stroke victims to return to drinking thin liquids again.
Pictured below is Linda Bargo. She has been undergoing Vital Stim Therapy and has now successfully been upgraded from nectar thick liquids to thin liquids.
