Hillcrest HRC Nursing Home Week 10It’s a Small World with a Big Heart!

May 9-13 is National Nursing Home Week. At Hillcrest Health and Rehabilitation Center, this week was packed with fun, food, and entertainment. The theme: “Hillcrest County Fair.”

The week began with enjoying Granny Smith apples with caramel dip. We hosted a cookout for our residents, their families, and our area Emergency, Fire, and Police personnel. RC Colas and moonpies were served as dessert! To quote one of our residents as he took a big drink of his RC, “Ahh…that’s good!”

Hillcrest HRC Nursing Home Week 4

Mid-week, we enjoyed quite a feast. Chef Chris and Chef Dan, from Gordon Food Services, visited our facility and took us on a Tour of the World’s Most Delicious Foods! A few of the dishes we devoured were: Italian Fried Cheese Ravioli with Marinara Sauce, Korean Pot Stickers with Soy Ginger Dipping Sauce, French Style Quiche Lorraine, Irish Potato Soup, Asian Chicken with Sesame Sauce, American BBQ Pork, and the list goes on. Our residents, their family members, and staff had a wonderful time experiencing delicious cuisines from around the globe.

One of our favorite days of Nursing Home Week was full exciting activities, including: breaking beans, enjoying Beignets, listening to and singing along with the music of Nick Hibbard, eating funnel cakes smothered in fruit and covered in powdered sugar, and playing games.

The finale of the week was the amazing fried corn bread made by our very own Carolyn Carnes. We have made a lot of great memories this week and we are already looking forward to next year!
