OT provides solutions to the challenges of everyday life. Occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants help people of all ages participate in the everyday activities (occupations) they want and need to do. OT enables people to be engaged and live a meaningful lifestyle. It also helps with many areas of occupation including bathing, dressing, grooming, home and financial management, rest and sleep, education, work, play, leisure and social participation. The goal of OT is to help people recovering from injury to learn how to compensate and/or regain function in order to lead a full and productive life.

At Hillcrest HRC, Occupational Therapists are an integral part of the therapy team and rehabilitation process. Our therapists are highly skilled in treating conditions affecting older adults. After a thorough evaluation, occupational therapists develop collaborative goals and work one-on-one with our clients to regain function and independence for a better quality of life.

Common conditions that could benefit from occupational therapy include:

  • CVA / Stroke
  • Heart Attack
  • Arthritis, Multiple Sclerosis, or other serious chronic conditions
  • Dementia or Alzheimer’s
  • Fractures, Joint Replacements or injuries related to a fall or accident
